Careers

Interested in becoming a RTP tutor and joining our rapidly growing team? We take great pride in what we do and aim to be the best tutors in the business, and we are looking for people who share this motivation.

Let’s start with the qualifications and characteristics we are looking for:

  • Talented, passionate teachers. We are looking for people who LOVE teaching and who are gifted at it. And it wouldn’t hurt if you LOVE standardized tests as well!
  • Experience teaching/tutoring standardized tests. You don’t need to have experience with all of the tests we teach, but we are looking for people with experience teaching or tutoring the SAT, ACT, GMAT, or GRE.
  • Elite-level scores on standardized tests (and proof of those scores). We will help you achieve an even greater level of mastery, but you must be someone who naturally excels at standardized tests.
  • Ability to teach ALL sections of the tests you will tutor. We are not looking for Math or Verbal only experts.
  • Great communication skills. You might be amazing at Math, but great tutors must be able to communicate ideas effectively to students who sometimes don’t understand.
  • Unwavering patience. Tutoring is not easy and you need to have a deep reservoir of patience. When students don’t understand things it is not their fault!
  • Empathy. It’s hard to teach empathy – if you don’t already have that trait, you probably won’t be a good fit here.
  • Affable demeanor. We have a serious job to do in preparing people for exams, but the process should be fun, so you need to be able to keep the mood light and make it as enjoyable as possible for students. Happy students get happy results!
Long-term commitment (at least 3 years). We are going to invest time in helping you become an amazing tutor, so we are looking for people who intend to do this for years.

What you can expect working at RTP:

We aim to be the best here at RTP and we have a collaborative and supportive environment where we help each other excel at our craft. You will get support and training to help you develop your ability, but you will also be expected to demonstrate continued excellence. You will also be expected to contribute to weekly tutor meetings: again this is a collaborative enterprise where RTP tutors help each other be the best tutors they can be. Additionally there will be opportunities for non-tutoring assignments (research, curriculum development, etc.).

Still Interested?

First, make sure you check all of the qualification/characteristic boxes above. Are you a passionate teacher with experience? Do you have proof of elite-level test scores? Are you willing to commit to doing this for at least 3 years? If so, please submit the following to admin@reasontestprep.com with the subject line: Job applicant

  • Your Resume
  • Your scores on the SAT, ACT, GMAT, or GRE (we will require proof)
